Who better to create a fragrance inspired by effortless Parisian elegance, than the elegant, Parisian Master Perfumer, Emilie Coppermann? We spoke to her to discover the secrets behind what she calls “Paris in a bottle”.
This is something quite difficult to explain for someone who has lived in Paris all their life. I think it’s just something we maybe learn from our mothers, our grandmothers, our friends… it’s a sense of style, a way of living, an “art de vivre” that can be seen in even the smallest details of what we do, every day. Like choosing a simple scarf to walk to your favourite café, or wearing a timeless fragrance.
Both as a Parisian and a perfumer, this project was a dream. I wanted to capture the perfect image of the most elegant, sophisticated woman with that special Parisian touch. That “art de vivre”. And as a perfumer I got to use two of the most precious and expensive raw materials in perfumery – the DeLaire accord and the White Orris.
Working with a DeLaire accord is such a rare privilege. The DeLaire fragrance house is really the birthplace of modern perfumery – creating special new blends of notes, or “accords”, for over 140 years. Until now, these accords have been reserved for the most iconic and premium perfume brands like Chanel and Guerlain.
And the White Orris is also a real jewel in perfumery. One of the most expensive raw materials you can find, like a “haute couture” ingredient. It’s known as the “gold flower of perfumery”. I loved working with such high-quality ingredients.
I love it! I’m super-proud. Eclat Mon Parfum is the most premium level of fragrance you can find – a “parfum”. And I feel I have created something very special: modern yet timeless. By modernising the incredible DeLaire accord, I feel I brought out the very best notes of the beautiful White Orris. The results are reassuringly sophisticated – like the most elegant of Parisian experiences. In fact, I would say Eclat Mon Parfum is, for me, Paris in a bottle.
